Destiny Matrix for a Child: How to Calculate and Read It
A child's Destiny Matrix step by step: how to calculate it, what it says about talents and learning, and whether it shows how many kids you'll have.
A child's Destiny Matrix is calculated exactly like an adult's — from the date of birth. What changes is how you read it: a parent isn't looking for career or relationship insights but for answers about the child's character, talents and way of learning. Below we show how to calculate a child's matrix step by step, what you can read from it using the example of a child born on 07.09.2017, and what the matrix can't tell you — including how many kids you'll have and when.
TL;DR: A child's matrix is an ordinary Destiny Matrix calculated from the child's date of birth. A parent mainly reads the personality (point A), the talents (point B), the center and the age scale from 0 to 20. For 07.09.2017 that means The Chariot in both the personality and the center, and The Hermit in the talents. The matrix doesn't predict how many children you'll have or when they'll be born, and it doesn't replace a conversation with a specialist.
What is a Destiny Matrix for a child?
It isn't a separate method — it's the same Destiny Matrix, an octagon with the 22 tarot arcana, calculated for a child. Every point comes from the same formulas, and the calculator works the same way: you enter your child's date of birth instead of your own. The difference lies in the reading. With an adult, we ask about work, money and relationships. With a child, we ask how they show themselves to the world, what comes easily to them, what they need and how they learn.
The matrix doesn't say who your child will become. It shows, rather, where they start from. Every arcanum has a side that helps and a side that gets in the way, and which one wins out depends largely on the child's surroundings. That's why a child's matrix is a tool for understanding, not for labeling.

How to calculate a child's Destiny Matrix step by step
All you need is the child's date of birth. The same rule applies as for adults: replace any number above 22 with the sum of its digits, and 22 stays 22. Here is the example for 07.09.2017:
- A — the day of birth: 7.
- B — the month of birth: 9.
- C — the year of birth: 2 + 0 + 1 + 7 = 10 .
- D — the sum of A, B and C: 7 + 9 + 10 = 26 → 8 .
- Center — the sum of A, B, C and D: 7 + 9 + 10 + 8 = 34 → 7 .
These five numbers give the rest of the chart: the points on the rays, the ancestral square, the karmic tail and the age scale. We go through the full calculation in our article on how to calculate the Destiny Matrix. In practice it's easier to enter your child's date in the Destiny Matrix calculator — it shows the whole chart with the calculation for every point.
What can a parent read in a child's matrix?
Four parts say the most: personality, talents, the center and the age scale up to age 20. Here is how they look for the child in our example.
Personality (A): how the child shows themselves to the world
Point A is the day of birth and age 0 on the age scale. It describes how the child behaves from the early years on and how others see them. In the example it is The Chariot (7): movement, pace and a clear goal. A child like this often wants to act right away, gets bored with waiting and likes tasks where progress shows. Movement, sport and tasks with a clear goal help. Patience can be the hard part.
Talents (B): what comes easily
Point B is the month of birth and age 20 on the age scale. It covers abilities worth noticing and supporting. In the example it is The Hermit (9): focus, independence and curiosity. A child like this may do well with quiet activities — building, reading, puzzles — and ask a lot of “why” questions. A corner of their own and unplanned time help.
Center (E): what gives them a footing
The center is the core of the matrix — the theme the child keeps coming back to and where they feel most like themselves. In the example it is The Chariot (7) again. When the same arcanum stands in two important points, the system reads its theme as more pronounced. Here it is the need to move and to feel that they choose their own direction.
How the child learns
You can see a child's way of learning when you put personality, talents and the center side by side. In the example, two Chariots and one Hermit suggest learning in short stages with a clear goal, broken up with movement and followed by a stretch of independent work in peace. Tasks of the “do it, check it, show it” kind tend to work better than sitting over one topic for a long time. This is a hint for observation, not a teaching method.
The age scale from 0 to 20
The age scale shows which theme goes with each period. For a child, the key segment runs from point A (age 0) through the top left corner (age 10) to point B (age 20). In the example the corners are 7, 16 and 9. The 8.75-year point with arcanum 10 (Wheel of Fortune) runs from 08.06.2026 to 06.09.2027, and the 10-year point with arcanum 16 (The Tower) from 07.09.2027 to 07.12.2028. In descriptions of the method, The Tower is a theme of change and rebuilding — for example moving up to a new class or a new school. It doesn't mean that something bad will happen. We show how to calculate the scale and the dates of its periods in our article on the age scale in the Destiny Matrix.
A child's karmic tail
A child's karmic tail is calculated the same way as an adult's: it is points D1, D2 and D of the lower ray. In the example it is 15–5–8, that is The Devil, The Hierophant and Justice. Don't treat a child's tail as a burden. It is a pattern that may repeat — here, for example, a tension between strong wants and the rules at home. How the tail is formed and what all 26 combinations are is covered in our article on the karmic tail.

Arcana in a child's matrix: a short guide for parents
Below is each arcanum at the personality point, the talents point or in the center: how it may show up in a child's behavior and what helps. These are descriptions of typical behavior, not an assessment — every child develops in their own way. The full meaning of the arcana is in our article on the 22 arcana in the Destiny Matrix.
1 — The Magician
Wants to do everything on their own, tries things out, tinkers and picks up new skills fast. Do-it-yourself tasks help, along with praise for trying, not only for the result.
2 — The High Priestess
Watches first, then acts. Can be quiet and attentive and notices a lot. Time to get used to a new situation helps, and so does not being pushed to perform in front of strangers.
3 — The Empress
Caring, loves nature, animals and pretty things, and quickly notices when someone is sad. Closeness, arts and crafts, and learning that their own needs matter too all help.
4 — The Emperor
Likes rules, order and being in charge during play. Clear rules and age-appropriate chores help. Giving way to others can be hard.
5 — The Hierophant
Asks “why”, likes explaining things to others and makes sure things are fair. Explaining the rules helps, and so does an adult who listens before judging.
6 — The Lovers
Sociable; friends matter a great deal, but making choices is hard. A choice between two options instead of many helps, and so does talking about feelings.
7 — The Chariot
Active and quick, enjoys competition and goals. Sport, a steady daily rhythm and tasks with a visible end help. Waiting their turn can be hard.
8 — Justice
Sensitive to unfairness, likes order and clear rules. Consistent adults help, and so does explaining where decisions come from.
9 — The Hermit
Likes independent activities, books and building, and needs quiet after a day with people. A corner of their own and time without planned activities help.
10 — Wheel of Fortune
Curious about everything and quick to switch interests. A variety of activities helps, along with patiently learning to finish what they start.
11 — Strength
Strong and brave, can be stubborn. Movement, sport and learning to name anger before it boils over help.
12 — The Hanged Man
Sees the world their own way, can be dreamy and slower. Patient adults, creative activities and not being rushed help.
13 — Death
This arcanum means transformation, not death. The child may find sudden changes hard or, on the contrary, be happy to start over. Announcing changes ahead of time helps.
14 — Temperance
Gentle, often makes peace between others, and copes badly with rush and noise. A calm daily rhythm and time to rest help.
15 — The Devil
Has strong wants, can be persuasive and tests limits. Clear boundaries and learning to wait for what they want help.
16 — The Tower
Lively, with strong emotions that come and go quickly. Predictability and a safe place to let out anger help.
17 — The Star
Sensitive, with a talent for art or music, and takes criticism hard. Appreciating effort and making room for creativity help.
18 — The Moon
Has a rich imagination, and sometimes more fears too, for example of the dark. A sense of safety and a calm talk about what scares them help.
19 — The Sun
Cheerful, likes being the center of attention and sharing joy. Chances to perform help, along with learning to share attention with others.
20 — Judgement
Attached to family, loves family stories and customs. Shared family rituals and stories about grandparents help.
21 — The World
Curious about the world, other places, languages and people. Trips, maps and contact with different cultures help.
22 — The Fool
Spontaneous and cheerful, dislikes being forced. Play and freedom within safe limits help.
Parent and child compatibility in the Destiny Matrix
Putting the two matrices side by side can tell you a lot. The same arcanum in a parent and a child is a theme you share, one that can bring you closer — or lead to arguments when each of you lives it in your own way. Different arcana show where you complement each other. For example, a parent born on 15.03.1990 and the child from our example share arcanum 10 (Wheel of Fortune): at point D for the parent and at point C for the child.
A relationship between two people is also described by a couple matrix. The method works for any two people, including a parent and a child: every point is the sum of the same point in both matrices.
Where are children in the Destiny Matrix? How many kids, and when?
This is one of the most common questions about the matrix: “how many kids will I have?” or “when will I have kids?”. The honest answer is that the matrix doesn't say. There is no point in it that gives the number of children, their sex, twins or a year of birth, and it can't replace medical tests or a doctor.
Some descriptions of the method — Italian sites, for example, under the name “karma genitore-figlio”, or parent–child karma — read the relationship with children from the left ray of the chart, from points A2 and A1. Numato calculates these points and shows them in the table of all points, but it doesn't single out a separate “children line”. Even in those descriptions, these points are about what you learn in your relationship with your children, not about whether or when they will arrive.
How to use a child's matrix wisely
- Observe before you believe. Check which descriptions fit your child and which don't. Your child knows themselves better than any chart does.
- Don't label. Saying “you're a Tower, so you explode” explains nothing. Better: “I can see you get angry quickly — what helps you?”
- Look for what helps. The part about what your child needs is worth more than the list of difficulties.
- Ask specialists. If something about your child's development, health or behavior worries you, talk to a pediatrician, a psychologist or a teacher.
Sources and method
- Method: we calculate a child's matrix with the same formulas as any Destiny Matrix, using the reduction rule of the calculator of the school of Natalia Ladini, the author of the method. Only the way you read it changes.
- Our own data: the numbers in the example, the age scale and the period dates are checked by an automated test of the calculation engine.
- What we don't calculate: a separate “children line”, the number of children or when they'll be born — this method doesn't produce results like that.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate a child's Destiny Matrix?
The same way as an adult's. The child's day of birth gives point A, the month gives point B and the year gives point C, while point D and the center are sums of the earlier points. Replace any number above 22 with the sum of its digits. The easiest way is to enter your child's date in the Destiny Matrix calculator, which shows the whole chart with the calculation for every point.
Is a child's matrix different from an adult's?
The calculation is identical; the reading is different. With a child you look mainly at the personality, talents, the center and the age scale up to 20, and less at money or relationships. The same arcanum is described in terms of the child's behavior: what makes them happy, what they need and how they learn.
Can the Destiny Matrix show how many kids I'll have?
No. The matrix has no point that gives the number of children, their sex or the year they'll be born. Sites that promise this go beyond the method itself. At most, the matrix can prompt questions about what you learn in your relationship with your children. For fertility and health questions, talk to a doctor.
Is there a children line or children number in the Destiny Matrix?
Some descriptions of the method read the relationship with children from the left ray of the chart, from points A2 and A1, and call it parent–child karma. Numato calculates these points and shows them in the table of all diagram points, but it doesn't single out a separate children line or a children number. These points describe the theme of the relationship, not whether or when children will arrive.
From what age is a child's matrix worth looking at?
From birth — the matrix doesn't change with age; only the point on the age scale does. Many parents turn to it at times of transition: before starting preschool or school, around age 10 and during adolescence. It's most useful when you compare the description with what you see every day.
Can you calculate the Destiny Matrix of an unborn child?
The matrix needs a date of birth, and a due date isn't a date of birth. You can calculate a matrix for the expected date out of curiosity, but the result only applies to that day. Once your child is born, calculate the matrix from the actual date.
Want to see your child's matrix? Enter their date of birth in the Destiny Matrix calculator — the result shows the whole chart, the age scale with the current period and the calculation for every point.
